1 – Create a list of questions regarding your loan program
If you find that you do not thoroughly realize the ins and outs of all the various programs, be sure to have a list of questions.
One of my lenders or I will assist you with understanding the advantages and disadvantages of both programs, because it can be hard to know the distinctions between both fixed and adjustable rate mortgages.
2 – Determine when to lock
Locking in an interest rate designates that your mortgage lender keeps to the interest rates for the loan – ordinarily at the time the loan application is sent in.

3 – Decide if you want to pay additional points to decrease your interest rate
Normally you can choose to pay additional points to lower the rate of your mortgage loan. Each point is 1 percent of the loan and is payable in cash at closing.

4 – Compile your paperwork
